"The [Rogue 1] Block 2 upgrade leverages user feedback to greatly enhance performance, resilience, and operational capability, all while maintaining existing form-factor,” a Teledyne FLIR statement read.
Currently OFP-L systems from three manufacturers are being tested by units at Dugway Proving Grounds outside of Salt Lake City.
“By all indications, sUAS will present a safety and security risk to military installations and other critical infrastructure for the foreseeable future,” said NORTHCOM chief Gen. Gregory Guillot.
A SOCOM spokesperson told Breaking Defense, “Our next step is to purchase limited quantities of the Rogue 1 for further test and evaluation in support of a fielding decision and follow-on Low-Rate Initial Production in late calendar year 2025.”
"The baseline program, so far, [is] going well. It's a building block," Doug Bush, the head of Army acquisition, said. But for the next iteration, "What else can you do with that chassis? Weapons? Sensors?"
The military revealed little about the new platform, but claims it will “significantly improve” troops’ operational capability.
The company’s nano-drone has already been gifted to Ukraine; too soon to say if “Black Recon” will follow, company official tells Breaking Defense.
The combined company will offer a wide range of unmanned vehicles (mostly small ones) for air, land, sea, and underwater, said exec Roger Wells.
